For over 20 years, homeless and the working poor have been invited to the Boulder Footwash, a season ending celebration of the Lambs Lunches. The guests celebrate the day before Palm Sunday (March 24) not only for foot washing but also for haircuts, manicures, clothing, health screening, hygiene supplies and food.
Our Footwash begins with prayer, which sets the tone for the entire event and all that follows is certainly filled with the power of belief and hope. A breakfast with bagels and pastries is available in the morning. A home-style lunch is served around noon. Usually over 100 people attend!
Foot washing, as Jesus did for his disciples at the Last Supper, is a demonstration of humility, service and love. It is a powerful experience in getting closer to Jesus when you wash someone's feet and is just as meaningful to let someone else wash your feet. One of our foot washers said "This is the best day of the year for me!"
We are in particular need of people to cut hair and wash feet. If you’d like to help, please contact Jim Remnant at firstname.lastname@example.org .
