Adult Education is a Bible-centered ministry designed to help
people to continue growing in their knowledge and love of the
Lord. Classes are taught by staff and non-staff on a variety
of pertinent topics and are designed to meet the developing
needs and interests of adults in the church. Classes vary in
length from one or two sessions to longer, in-depth opportunities
covering two years.
Paul, in Ephesians 4, encourages us to "reach
unity in the faith," "become mature," and experience
"the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." The
Adult Education program seeks to help people pursue these
goals through a variety of classes offered on Sundays and
throughout the week. In this way people are supported and
directed in their lifelong quest "grow in the grace
and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Meeting Jesus in Life’s Messiness:
Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians for Today
Location: Geneva 270
Leader: Dr. Carl Hofmann
Note: This class will not meet on March 23 or 30
By all accounts,
the Corinthian church was a mixed-up group of Christians.
They struggled in many of the same ways we do today: with
divisions and disagreements, with worship issues, with sexuality,
and
much more. Come explore Paul’s wise and warm instruction which
is just as relevant to us today as it was to the Corinthians so long
ago.

Connections
Location: Geneva 240
Our goal is to build a caring
community of adults, both couples and singles. Our studies
are led by class members, and this year we are continuing
to “Celebrate Our Roots” by looking at Old Testament
themes, as well as adding a focus on the current stage of
our life and ministry, “Stretching for
Significance.” We have monthly social
activities and/or local mission outreach. We are delighted
to have couples or singles come for selected class sessions
that are of interest.
Contemplative Prayer
Location: Geneva 242
This class will focus on the contemplative practice and
encouraging people to establish this spiritual discipline.
The book Awakenings by Thomas Keating will be used.
Thinking Chrisitanly About Evolution
This four week class starts February 17
Location: Westminster Hall
Based on Dr. Michel Behe's new book The
Edge of Evolution.
We will look at the three parts of Darwin's theory, two of
which are well supported by facts and one is not.
Dr Behe, a professor of microbiology, looks at what Darwinism
explains and what it does not. This has the potential of
closing the divide in the ongoing origins controversy. It
should also provide a basis for considering God’s providential
action in the world. No science background required.
The Walk
Location:
Fire Escape (Third Floor)
This is a group of post-graduate, young professionals,
and graduate students. We meet for discussion groups on
the
Christian faith and the world in which we live. We also
