David and Vreni Greenlee: Operation Mobilization |
David and Vreni have served with Operation Mobilization (OM) for nearly 30 years. For many years they were part of the ship ministry of OM, including the original “Logos”, the “Logos II”, and the “Doulos.” Since summer 2006 the Greenlees are based at OM’s office in Switzerland, Vreni’s home country. David serves the mission in research and strategic planning and Vreni serves both in the home and with our team in the office. David’s work involves helping OM leaders work through missiological issues, teaching and writing, and helping plan strategies for some new initiatives. Ongoing research and writing projects reflect David’s interest in gaining understanding in how people are coming to faith in Christ. Other recent projects have included topics such as why people are joining Operation Mobilization and helping our European leaders define their shared ministry vision as well as teaching in Bible colleges and seminaries in South Asia in 2007. From October 2007, David will serve for one year as OM Spain’s interim field leader. Jonathan attends John Brown University in Arkansas and Sarah is completing high school through an online school while Rebekka, a 2007 college graduate, will be working in Switzerland. David’s publications include From the Straight Path to the Narrow Way: Journeys of Faith (editor, 2006) and One Cross, One Way, Many Journeys: Thinking Again about Conversion (2007), both published by Authentic. |

Puerta Al Mundo |
Puerta Al Mundo is a new Honduran interdenominational mission agency that is committed to sending Hondurans to unreached people around the world. While many years of prayer and missions mobilizing have laid a foundation to this work, it was in 2005 that the mission was formed. The mission was initiated by two churches from an urban slum area. They invited Servant Partners to help them set up a platform for sending Honduran young people to the unreached. Even amid their own struggle with poverty, these churches have a vision to share the gospel with those who don't know Jesus. There is a growing mission movement from the poor of Honduras with many, many young people eager to give their lives for the unreached. Puerta Al Mundo is currently preparing workers for India and North Africa. On-going support for these missionaries comes from their local context while large one-time expenses (airfare, medical insurance, training) comes through partnerships with outside organizations. First Pres has been one of the initial donors assisting this emerging missions movement. |
