Valentine's Day Kindness Outreach - Sunday, February 12

First Pres is doing a Church-wide Kindness Outreach for Valentine's Day this year! Kindness Outreaches are simple, low risk, very effective and fun ways of reaching out to the community to show God's love to the world in a personal way. The mantra for Kindness Outreach is "Small Things Done with Great Love Will Change the World!"

For this outreach, we will be providing a zip loc bag with 3 Hersheys kisses, a Valentine's Connection Card and a carnation for people leaving the church on Sunday February 12. Please take up to five sets of these as you leave the church. Put your carnations in water when you get home.

Then, on Valentine's Day: Pray about who to give this to: A stranger, a not-yet-believing friend, a co-worker, someone who needs kindness Ask God to channel his love through you Relax and have fun! Be creative! Say: "Just to make sure you get kissed on Valentine's Day..." or Ask: "Have you been kissed today?" Mention "I just wanted to say God loves you in a personal way" Be open and bold as to where the conversation might go from there

Glory Community

Glory Community is a ministry that will provide housing for adults with functional developmental disabilities with special needs such as those with Down syndrome, autism, and other challenges.  The community will eventually include 5 houses.  To visit the Glory Community website, click here.

The session of First Pres has graciously agreed that for the next 18 months or so (till December, 2012) our church will partner in a focused way with fund raising for Glory Community.  The land has been purchased so these funds will go for construction costs.

An “angel donor” has offered a dollar for dollar matching grant for up to $250,000 for 2011. The house below shows the progress of the fund raising. Including the matching grant, the goal is $500,000, represented by the house being fully uncovered. Each “piece” covers 1/50th of the house and corresponds to $10,000 including the matching grant.  When the house is completely uncovered, the 2011 goal of $500,000 is met!

Short Term Missions

Short Term Missions is looking for somebody with a heart for missions and a talent for web communications to join the Short Term Missions committee. Our committee meets the first Thursday of every month (except July) to mentor, support and pray for members of our FPC community who are called to spread the Good News of our Lord to those in need outside of Boulder County. You would help us get the word out for opportunities to serve on a short term mission and help those returning from the field to tell their stories of Christian service and growth. Your FPC website announcements, feature articles, and web site renewal will help our congregation observe and celebrate the glory of God as he works through the hands and hearts of short term mission members.
