The Flame newsletter is published monthly by First Presbyterian Church with the purpose of informing and inspiring its members and friends of the works and vision of the church. It is intended to be easily read by its diverse congregation with the hope that it keeps its active members involved as well as to compel others to become part of the life of the church.

Guidelines:

1. Items submitted by the deadline will be considered for the upcoming issue (Deadline Schedules are listed above, available in the First Presbyterian Church Main Office Mail Room or on the second page of each issue of The Flame). 

2. You may submit articles in one of the following formats:

  • as an email;
  • an email Word attachment;
  • via FPC shared files;
  • a Zip Disc 100;
  • on a 3 1/2 inch IBM compatible disk; or
  • in typewritten hard copy form.

3. Articles that are timely and relevant to activities at First Presbyterian Church will be considered for publication. All articles are subject to the approval of the First Presbyterian Church staff and will be edited for length and suitability.

4. Requests for special placement, covers, and photographs should be made to the editor one week before the deadline. Actual placement is at the discretion of the editor.

When submitting material for publication:

  • Include why, what, when, where and how;
  • Be clear and to the point;
  • Submitted articles must be at least 450 and no more than 750 words;
  • Have someone else read it and ask if they understand it; and
  • When in doubt, call the editor.
