Evacuees and Fire victims
- this is a time for you -
Take a break from the crisis to:
- Reconnect
- Refresh
- Renew
- Rebuild
We are opening our doors to all evacuees to catch their breath. We want all those who have been impacted by the fire to have an opportunity to find each other, share stories, cry if you need to, and take a moment to sort out your lives with YOUR neighbors.
We know how hard it is to be not only separated from your homes, but not be able to talk to each other, find out where you and your neighbors are staying and learn from each other about how to start rebuilding.
This is a community event and we welcome anyone from Boulder and the surrounding foothills to come. Food and drinks will be provided.
Please let those you know who have lost homes that we want them to come, be recognized and supported.

Since many of the evacuees are scattered throughout Boulder in private homes and motels and the emergency shelter, one need of the evacuated community is to have a central place where neighbors can gather together with one another. Thus in an effort to reach out to our friends in this chaotic and difficult time we are offering our church as a community gathering place on Sunday, September 12th, 4-6pm.
All those who lost their homes, those who recently returned to their homes, and those who are still displaced are invited.
Would you join us in helping support this event?
First, please pray. First Pres is offering a public gathering place for a community in crisis. Would you pray for that God would use this for His purposes?
Second, we need help with food items. We need pre-packaged items not cooked at home (per health department regulations for public events)such as fruit and veggie trays, cheese trays, prepared desserts, and large bottles of juice (cranraspberry, orange, etc.). The grocery store or Costco would be great for these items. Servings of 12 suggested.
Also, we would appreciate any flower bouquets you might have from your gardens to adorn Oerter and the Atrium.
Third, we will also need some help with the clean up afterwards. The time on clean up/breakdown is 6-7pm.
The drop off for food and flower items will be Sunday morning in the catering kitchen outside the main kitchen.
Please label your items for the Fire Gathering and deliver your item by 2pm.
Fourth, we need help in getting the word out to evacuees that our church is offering a place for evacuees to gather, have some food, and connect with one another. Please pass the word on to those you know in the community that may be interested in coming.
Please email if you have a donation to bring and let us know what you are bringing and how much. Servings of 12 are suggested.
If you would like to help with clean up, please let us know that in your email.
We do not know how many people may wish to come, but we are trusting God in this effort as we offer our church building to our neighbors.
We are thanking you in advance for your compassion, your prayers and your support for our hurting Boulder neighbors.
