The Dilemma…
Many people are experiencing financial problems.
Debt is escalating rapidly. Personal consumer debt is increasing
at the rate of $1,000 per second and hundreds of thousands
of people are forced to declare bankruptcy each year.
Recent surveys reveal that over half of all divorces are
a result of financial pressures in the home.
The Answer…
There are two economic systems that operate
in the world: man’s economy and God’s economy. These two systems
function on principles that are in direct contradiction to
one another. This should not be unexpected. Isaiah 55:8 reads,
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are
your ways My ways, declares the Lord."
You may be surprised to learn just how much the Bible says
about money. There are over 2,350 verses that address in very
practical, specific ways the earning, saving, spending, investing,
and giving of money. The Bible is the blue print for every
aspect of handling money.
What is Crown Ministries?
Crown Ministries is an interdenominational ministry that
employs a remarkably effective small group study to train
Christians to apply the financial principles from the Word
of God to their everyday lives. Crown Ministries does not
endorse or sell financial products or services.
What will we be studying?
God requires us to be faithful in all handling of our money,
not just 10%. Unfortunately, Christians have usually been
taught only how to handle ten percent of their income. As
a result, we can use some input on how to handle the other
90% , not from the world's perspective, but from the Lord's
perspective.
Crown Ministries is a systematic study of what Scripture
teaches about managing all our possessions. The following
is a partial list of the topics covered: DEBT; WORK; SAVING;
HONESTY; SPENDING; GIVING; INVESTING; and COUNSEL.
What are the results?
Marriages are being strengthened, individuals are getting
out of debt, and people are becoming consistent savers, generous
givers and prudent consumers.
Many are now enjoying the freedom, contentment, and economic
stability of practicing a more disciplined and less consumptive
lifestyle.
Statistics resulting from those involved in this study show
that the average financial impact on individuals is:
Debt Reduction - $32,059;
Savings Increased - $7,907
Spiritual Growth as measured by:
Increased time spent in prayer - 71%;
Increased time to study the Bible - 56%;
Increased time serving others 64%; and
Increased Tithing 50%
People are entering into a closer relationship with Jesus
Christ and are genuinely excited to discover the Bible has
practical answers to their money problems.
What are the requirements?
Since life changes often take place in small groups, this
is a format used by Crown Ministries.
The small group meets once a week for two hours for 12 weeks.
A student must attend a minimum of 10 classes to graduate
successfully. Participants must complete the following four
requirements:
Homework. The homework consists of reading
assigned scriptures and answering questions related to
those passages. Then, when
the small group assembles, each person shares his or her
answers and the entire group benefits from each other’s
insights;
Practical Application. Each week the students complete a
confidential and practical financial exercise, such as, beginning
their budget, or formulating a debt repayment schedule. An
interactive CD is provided to make it easy to track and follow
a revisable budget;
Scripture Memory. A key verse must be memorized each week.
The verses are also set to music on a CD for those who memorize
more easily from music; and Prayer. Small group members are asked to pray for one another
daily.
Approximately two hours of preparation are required outside
of class each week.
Schedules for the next Crown studies...
These 12-week classes usually start in September
and again in January. Occasionally a shorter version of
this
class ("Discovering God's Way") is offered over
a 10 week period on Sunday mornings (convenient because children
can attend Sunday School while taking the course.)
Crown Ministries offers a fun and rewarding way to understand
God's perspective about the Financial side of our lives, opportunity
to meet new friends and enjoy true fellowship with others
in our church family.
Crown courses have been designed for both teens and college
students as well.
Six hour training for new Crown leaders...
Crown co-leaders are usually selected from those participants
who have successfully completed the course. However, a separate
one day training is usually offered in the Denver Metro area
two or three times annually for those who have never taken
Crown.
