Preschool "Fun"draisers
Did you know that your preschool, First Presbyterian Cooperative, offers a variety
of ways to raise extra money for school needs? Below is a list of the various fundraisers and a general description of each. By knowing ahead of time what fundraising programs the preschool offers, you can pick and choose which ones you would like to participate in to support your child’s preschool. Watch your child’s back packs and check your email for more details on each program.
Please keep in mind that many of these fundraisers make great gifts for the holidays for family, friends and neighbors and the money raised is used to purchase equipment, boost staff salaries and provide funds for student scholarships.
Only one program is required for you to participate in and that is purchasing
Grocery Cards each month. All of the other programs are completely voluntary. Each program has a Chair that is responsible for that program and can answer any questions you might have.
If you have any suggestions for other programs that could raise money for our school, please call the office and leave a message for the Director or Director’s Assistant. It is always nice to add new ones that might potentially raise more money.
Thanks for helping to support your school throughout these fundraisers!
Below is a list of each program and a description:
Grocery Card Support Program
This program is used to help keep our tuition fees low. The preschool earns 5% on all
grocery coupons sold. Each family has the option of buying coupons monthly throughout the year or paying a $90 support fee. Purchasing $200 or more each month keeps families up to date! You can always
purchase more than $200 each month. Don’t forget to stock up before the holidays and summer break! Cards are sold at pick up and drop off time by staff wearing an apron. Cards come in $100 increments. Participating stores are Alfalfa's, Safeway, King Soopers, Vitamin Cottage and Sunflower Market.
Make-A-Plate
Make-a-Plate is an old tradition of creating and decorating affordable plates, mugs, trays and bowls. Your child’s very own artwork transfers to the plastic items. These make great gifts and lifetime mementos. There are take home kits for you to check out in the office. We also provide the materials at our “Muffins with Mom” morning event in March.
Book Fair
Books, books and more books! In early fall (great time for holiday shopping) the preschool sponsors a Book Fair. There are books for all ages, including adults. This program helps the school in two ways. One, patrons can purchase books from the teachers wish list for the school library and two, the vendor donates a percentage of the money spent back to the preschool. This is a great way to support the school and your child’s reading needs!
Holiday Greens and Poinsettias
The preschool offers a variety of holiday wreaths and greens that ship from the Northeast and various sizes and colors of poinsettias’ from a local nursery in Brighton Colorado. These make wonderful gifts for family, friends, teachers, neighbors and co-workers. Order forms are sent home in mid October. The deadline for ordering is early November, which allows time for these to be received right after Thanksgiving.
Spring Plant Sale
The preschool provides an opportunity to order high quality bedding plants, herbs, baskets and planters for your “Green Thumbs”. These arrive in time for Mother’s Day gifts and your spring planting needs. A local greenhouse is our supplier for this program.
FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL!!
This is the preschool’s biggest celebration! It is a chance for all preschool families to come together for a night of fun. Some of the activities for your children to enjoy are; variety of carnival games with prizes, bouncy castle & face painting! Pasta, pizza, salad, bread and desserts are all included in one low family ticket price. There is a raffle of donated items & more “pricey” items are bid on at a silent auction. Past raffle and silent auction items included: major restaurant coupons, hotel accommodations, sports equipment, weekend retreats, ski vacations and more. If you would like to donate a service or raffle/silent auction item for our Spring Carnival, please contact either of the Fall Fest Chairs.
Cartridges for Kids-Recycle
The preschool receives earnings by collecting recyclable empty inkjet/laser cartridges, used cell phones, laptop computers with power cords and PDA’s and depositing them in the drop off box at the preschool. Parents can ask family, friends and neighbors for old items or post a flier at local businesses. If you need a flier please contact the preschool office staff.
Scholastic Book Orders
Watch your child’s backpacks for monthly book order forms. The preschool acquires points towards books for the school or larger items that benefit all of us. Some of the “free” items from your purchases have been small refrigerators, CD players, a digital camera, balls, toys and storage containers. And of course, we receive free books to add to our library!
Grand Rabbits & Play Fair Toy Stores
These two local toy stores give us 10% credit on all of your purchases towards the purchase of toys and books for the preschool. Each year we acquire around $200 worth of free items. When you shop and purchase those Christmas and birthday items, remember to tell them you are from First Presbyterian Cooperative Preschool so that the school gets credit. They also gift-wrap for free!
Individual & Class Pictures
Each Fall the preschool offers an opportunity for you to have your child and sibling’s pictures taken in a safe environment at their preschool. The preschool makes a small percentage from the sale of school pictures. Class pictures are taken in the spring and you may also choose to purchase one.
Friends of the Preschool
Friends of the Preschool (FOPS) is an alumni association of First Presbyterian Cooperative Preschool. Prior to receiving your last invoice of the year, you will be asked if you would like to donate any part of your annual to this association. You may also donate to this organization at any time of the year!
