The Parish Nurse

Our Parish Nurse is a licensed RN in Colorado with additional education in this field who serves as part of the ministerial team. She demonstrates the love of Jesus through her care and compassion for others. Some of the nurses roles include:
Integrator of Faith and Health
She helps to blend the resources of our faith such as the scriptures, prayers and hymns with the gifts of medical science to promote health and wholeness in those who call on her. Her work comes under the Departments of Pastoral Care and the Senior Adult Ministry.
Personal Health Counselor
She speaks with individuals regarding questions of health. She makes visits to homes, hospitals, and nursing homes. She accompanies persons to their doctor’s visits when needed.
She does not provide any hands-on-care.
Resource Person
She is up-to-date on community resources and maintains an information bank regarding services for the elderly, families and children and emergency assistance. She can help people choose and access the help they need.
Volunteer Coordinator
Together with the health cabinet, she recruits and trains volunteers to carry out the ministry of caring.
Health Educator
She arranges classes on health topics of interest. She develops support groups and keeps current information on local programs offered by the hospitals. She attends workshops and seminars to maintain her own knowledge base.
Parish Nursing is not hands-on care provider. She works with, but does not replace clergy, medical, home health and social services.
