Purpose: To minister to those who are in need, the sick, the friendless and to any who may be in distress.

Qualifications:

  1. A person of mature Christian faith who strives toward the ideals reflected in I Timothy 3
  2. A pledging member of First Presbyterian Church with regular worship attendance.
  3. A person who is willing to commit time to the service of others.
  4. An individual called by God and elected by the congregation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Attendance at the Board of Deacons meetings (first Thursday of each month).
  2. Participation in two or more of the committees listed below.
  3. Each Deacon is assigned two visitees to call on at least once a month.
  4. The time commitment is approximately ten to fifteen hours a month.

Organization:

The Board of Deacons consists of 24 members. Eight Deacons are elected each year for a three-year term.

The Board has a moderator, a vice-moderator, a secretary, a treasurer, and a meeting coordinator. The Board is served by a resource pastor from the staff.

The Board of Deacons serves the church community and the Boulder community through the following committee activities:

  • Deacon’s Closet
  • Food Collection for EFAA and St. Thomas Aquinas Food Banks
  • Transportation Coordination with Special Transit for Sunday Mornings
  • Fifth Sunday luncheons and Thanksgiving Dinner
  • Lamb's Lunch (November through March)
  • Visitation of Shut-Ins, Cards to Congregation Members for Life Events, Chancel Flowers and Baby Rosebuds
  • Financial Allocations to Agencies and Individuals
  • Preparation of the Lord's Supper
