Sunday Worship
January 1, 2012 only: Join us for New Year's Day worship at 9:30 (Traditional) & 11 a.m. (Contemporary)
First Presbyterian Church offers three Sunday morning worship services with various styles to help move attendees into an experience which nourishes the soul and calls the heart to Christ.
8:00 - Chapel
This intimate, traditional service is held in our historic Chapel and is illuminated by floor to ceiling stained glass windows.
The attending congregation is led in worship with music from selected members of the Chancel Choir at this traditional service.
9:30 - Traditional
This more formal and contemplative worship experience in our 'beams and timbers' Sanctuary with the Chancel Choir providing music leadership.
The accompanying organ, piano, or concert instrumentation combined with the corporate recitation of a Creed and singing of the Doxology, draws attendees into a worship experience that calls across the ages to the early church, while providing messages that address key issues of today.
11:00 - Contemporary
In response to the Mission Study and a desire to continue to engage with the people of all ages in a truly contemporary manner, the Contemporary Worship Service made some significant changes in the fall 2010. A team of staff and lay people have been working to redesign the service in order to help people worship and engage with God and connect in community in a style that is faithful to our Reformed tradition and speaks the language of 2010. We hope this is a service where God's Grand Story is experienced and where every person, regardless of church background, can be invited into that Story.
