Summer Worship Hours

On Sunday, May 27 (Memorial Day Weekend) we will begin two Sunday summer worship services in the Sanctuary: Traditional at 9 a.m. and Contemporary at 10:30 a.m.

FPC New Director, Children and Family Ministries

We are pleased to announce that FPC’s very own Jennie Fletemeyer will be the new Director of Children and Family Ministries. The search was a national one, the process was both rigorous and intentional, and the entire journey was surrounded in prayer. As noted by the Search Committee, “Jennie brings to this position energy, creativity, passion and excitement for FPC and for God’s work. She feels the Lord’s hand opening doors and is eager to walk with our children.” Also at this time we wish to recognize Janet Schultz for her excellent work as the Interim Director of this ministry. Janet has served this leadership role with energy, humor, grace, absolute professionalism and a spirit-filled heart. We are delighted that Janet will remain a vital part of this ministry as she returns to her Administrative Assistant role next month.

Denominational Developments

The Session-appointed Compass Task Force continues its work in helping to discern God’s leading during a time of significant change in our denomination: For information regarding a recent vote on changing ethical standards for presbyters and others in our Plains and Peaks Presbytery, please pick up a report at the Connection Center in the Atrium. There will be a new phase of congregational communication after the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) meets June 30-July 7, 2012.

Highlands Camp Zip-Line

Zip-Line at Highlands Camp will be dedicated on Saturday, June 9 with free rides to folks 14 years and older, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. This 1000-foot zip line is dedicated as memoriam to Ken Husbands, long-time member of FPC and volunteer counselor at Highlands Camp. RSVP requested, 303.747.2888.

Church Audit

At its April meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the external audit for the year ending December 31, 2011. The results were excellent.  The audit found that FPC's financial statements presented fairly, in all material respects, (1) the financial position, (2) changes in net assets, and (3) cash flows of the church, and that these conformed with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.  Click on the links to access the 2011 Audit Report in its entirety and to read the Management Letter.

FPC Cookbook

The FPC Cookbook Committee is publishing a church cookbook! Our goal is to create a high quality cookbook including a wide variety of recipes from our church community. We would love your recipe submissions with any photographs or stories behind what makes them special to you. Stop by our table in the Atrium for more information and to pick up your submission packet. Recipe submissions due September 30.

PNC

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of the Pastoral Nominating process. Your PNC has been diligently working to narrow our list of candidates, continuing to conduct phone and in-person interviews, checking references, visiting candidates in their home locations, etc. We are well-aware that we are not in control-that God has a plan for FPC and that the process will happen according to His will and timing as we continually seek His direction. Please continue to pray for our committee, for the candidates, and for our church that we would continue to seek Jesus as the true Head of this church. Once the PNC selects a candidate and the candidate responds affirmatively to that call, Session calls a congregational meeting for a Sunday and the candidate preaches during services, the congregation votes, the candidate is approved by the Peaks and Plains Presbytery, and the candidate is installed as Head of Staff at First Pres. Craig, Courtney, Ruth, David, Shirley, Amy, Dan, Nancy, Kathy, and Brad, your PNC.
